IBI Foundation’s Founder Declares for Adamawa Governorship

Renowned philanthropist, Lt. Commodore Ibrahim Babainna (rtd), has declared his intention to run for the Adamawa State governorship on the platform of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).

Babainna  made the declaration at the weekend in Jimeta, Yola, the state capital,  in the company of his family, associates, national and state party executives.

Other aspirants of the party, youth organisations, representatives of traditional rulers, clergies and teeming supporters were also at the declaration.

In his declaration speech, Babainna outlined his vision for the state saying: “My vision for a greater Adamawa State is one where every single productive citizen is gainfully employed and pulling in one direction. The socio-economic prosperity of the state leveraging on specialisation in agri-business, building a society where indeed no young or old, male or female, regardless of religion or ethnicity is left behind.”

He also promised to focus on agro- business which has the potential to properly harnessing the state abundant human and natural resources, with a view for it to become the centre around which all our other policies and activities as a state revolve.

With this declaration, Babainna has joined the long list of aspirants aiming to succeed the incumbent governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, who is contesting for a second term on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The National Coordinator of We2Geda Movement, Hon Shina Peller, a Nigerian entrepreneur, politician, industrialist, and a member of the ninth National Assembly, who was in Adamawa State for the declaration, called on the youths to mobilise across multi -partisan party lines to ensure that a new set of youths with proven track record like Babainna are supported to get elected and bring the required change at all levels of government in the country.
