Buki Luxe unveils Culture Couture collection

Two years after it showcased its maiden fashion collection titled ‘Cascading Dream’ during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown, Buki Luxe recently followed up with its second collection titled ‘Culture Couture.’

Giving an overview of the collection showcased in May 2022, the CEO and creative director of the fashion brand, Oluwabukunmi Ogidan, said: “Culture Couture is my way of diving into Ankara and Adire fabrics—throwing in a bunch of cool colours for that extra pop. It’s like a party of fashion that screams, “Look at us, embracing our culture and looking awesome doing it!” It’s not just clothes; it’s a vibe, a celebration of the coolness that comes with rocking our African heritage.”

Speaking further, she unveiled the inspiration behind the collection: “I cooked up this collection because I wanted it to be more than just clothes—it’s a whole vibe, a party celebrating the awesomeness of rocking our African heritage.”

On how she sourced materials for the collection, the Buki Luxe boss attributed her resourcefulness to collaboration with textile manufacturers and fabric suppliers and the exploration of diverse markets.
“This ensures that the materials I acquire are of high quality and align seamlessly with the vision I have for my collection. It’s all about fostering relationships and seeking out the perfect fabrics to bring my designs to life,” she said.

Buki Luxe has established itself as one of the new and rising brands in the fashion world.
Ogidan gave some nuggets of advice to young individuals aspiring to enter the fashion sector, urging them to be bold.
She said: “Don’t be afraid of the unknown, as every challenge is an opportunity for growth. Perseverance is key; never give up; keep pushing forward even when faced with obstacles.”
