The Perfect Arrangement: A Theme of Love, Family, Friendship
Ferdinand Ekechukwu
How does one get to be in a love triangle with two blood brothers without expecting complications? Not only does she not know who to choose, but she also doesn’t know how to tell people that she is involved with two brothers and still has feelings for both. So now she is at a loss at what to do, and this begs the question: Was it really a perfect arrangement, and is it going to end as one?
The answer you would get is ‘The Perfect Arrangement,’ a rom-com which opened in cinemas last week. Written by Oluwapelumi Bifarin and directed by Chinaza Onuzo, the movie explores themes of love, family, friendship, fashion, politics, and willpower. It follows the story of Tade Kaleijaiye, a scion of a respected political family (played by Sharon Ooja) who finds herself in a complicated love relationship with two brothers Chidi, her ex (played by Bovi Ugboma).
Cheta (played by Pere Egbi) is Tade’s best friend, and although they have feelings for each other, they never explored them. Somehow, Tade fell in love with Chidi. They had a beautiful relationship until Chidi came home one day, saying he couldn’t marry Tade because of his political ambition.
They broke up, and Tade focused on her fashion design business, this time beginning to explore her feelings for Cheta. Chidi’s political ambition gets threatened after being filmed in a comprising position that threatens his gubernatorial ambition.
On the other hand, all seemed to be smooth with Tade until she discovered her family was going broke, and there was only one way she could salvage the messy situation – what appeared to be a perfect arrangement. So she decided to get into an arranged marriage with Chidi, who she no longer loved, just so his scandal didn’t get in the way of winning the election, and that way, her family could be wealthy again. A win/win situation for everyone, right? But things turned out to be not so perfect after all.
Aside from the three lead characters, The Perfect Arrangement features an ensemble cast – Adunni Ade, Funsho Adeolu, Debo Adebayo (Mr. Macaroni), Dorcas Shola Fapson (Ms DSF), Rotimi Salami, Mimi Chaka, Wofai Fada, and Ummi Baba Ahmed – who all play prominent roles.
Just as much as they represented with their glam looks at the recent premiere of the Inkblot Production and FilmOne Entertainment romantic comedy where Nollywood A-lists and corporate Nigeria dazzled.
The Perfect Arrangement, which is currently showing in cinemas nationwide, is a feel-good romantic comedy that will make you laugh, think, and ask some real-life questions.
