Obaseki Sets Up Drug-revolving Funds Committee

*Edo tasks workers on performance, efficient service delivery


The Edo State Government has inaugurated the Drug Revolving Fund Committee to improve the supply of drugs and address drug shortages in Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across the state.
A statement quoted Edo State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Obehi Akoria, to have said the move would assist the government to achieve sustainable drug supply for PHCs in the state.


She noted that setting up of the committee was in line with the Obaseki-led administration’s efforts to strengthen the health system and enhance access to efficient, quality and affordable healthcare.


The Commissioner disclosed that the inauguration of the committee for the Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency fell within the ambit of medical products and technologies and would guarantee a more resilient healthcare system in the state.


Akoria said the mandate of the committee was to ensure the sustainable supply of medicines and related commodities that meet the healthcare needs of all citizens in PHCs, served through efficient, transparent, accountable and equitable systems.


She further expressed appreciation to Obaseki for approving the setting up of the committee.
Chairman, Edo State Drug Revolving Fund Committee, Dr. Otaniyenuwa Obarisiagbon lauded the initiative, pledging to work with other members of the team to deliver on their mandate and ensure quality-assured health supplies are consistently available to patients in PHCs.


Meanwhile, Edo State Government has tasked workers in the state to reciprocate the kind gestures of the state governor in the wake of the increment of the minimum wage in the state from N30,000 to N40,000, by ensuring effective delivery of quality service to Edo people.


The Edo State Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa, was quoted in a statement to have charged the workers to remain productive and committed to carrying out their duties.


Okungbowa said the Obaseki-led government remained committed to the welfare of workers and pensioners in the state and would sustain programmes and initiatives to improve the living standards of the workers and Edo citizens.


He said, “The Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration is committed to improving the welfare of workers as the government identifies the civil and public service as the fulcrum of good governance and as such is initiating policies and programmes to ensure that they are positioned for optimal service delivery.”
