Enterprising filmmaker, Uyoyou Adia is set to deliver her second theatrical directorial titled ‘Hey You’, in partnership with Niyi Akinmolayan’s Anthill studios. Her first theatrical feature-film directorial was Inkblot’s law-themed film, ‘Charge and Bail.’ A romance drama, ‘Hey You’ is rated 18 and has been confirmed for July 29 release in cinemas nationwide. Alongside official release date, Anthill Studios (days back) shared a first-look teaser. The raunchy clip shows its two lead characters Timini Egbuson and Efe Irele.
First was the latter teasing a masked partner, while the former is captured in a self-help mode. There will be a lot more daring scenes as such, according to Uyoyou who revealed plot details in a chat with this reporter. In her words, the life of an awkward 32 year-old software engineer is turned upside down when he finds out the girl he wants to be with is the Fansalone (a website) model he obsesses over and she’s his next-door neighbor.
Abel, played by Timini Egbuson and Bianca, played by Efe Irele, with one of them looking for love and the other willing to love genuinely, their lives gets entangled in the most unconventional way. What you will find out on July 29th is if they will eventually find love while staying true to who they are. This love story is one that encourages people to be confident in who they are.
The new teaser however leaves critics pondering on the place of the Nigeria Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) as the board is notable for kicking against explicit content on the big screens. With the trailer due to be out soon, the seemingly daring new title, Anthill boss Akinmolayan suggested via an Instagram post that fans can expect an intense plot.
‘Hey You’ will feature Rotimi Salami, Stan Nze, Tope Olowoniyan, Miriam Peters, Tunbosun Aiyedehin and Seyi Awolowo among others. At the commencement of shoot, Uyoyou noted that she would be exploring new frontiers while bringing her directing capability to bear in ‘Hey You.’
“At the risk of sounding cliche, I would say that this movie is nothing like anyone has seen before. I was particularly drawn to the story when Mr. Niyi and the Anthill team spoke about it before I wrote it and when I had a read with the actors it was a whole new vibe and excitement.
“Without revealing too much, working with such a quality team is something I always look forward to and all I can promise is that we are bringing magic to the big screen,” she said. ‘Hey You’ is written and directed by Uyoyou Adia and produced by Victoria Akujobi for Anthill Studios.
