Abejide, House Member, to Chair Ogidi Day Festival

Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Customs, Hon Leke Abejide, will chair the 10th anniversary of the Ogidi Day Festival scheduled to hold in Ogidi, Ijumu Local Government Area, Kogi State on Saturday, June 18, 2022.
The Director-General, Ogidi Day Festival, Mr. Tunde Ipinmisho disclosed this in a statement, saying the festival’s 10th anniversary has been repackaged to deliver value and unique experience to attendees.
Ipinmisho said that by accepting the community’s invitation to chair the event, Abejide was reinforcing his reputation as a thoroughbred community development enthusiast and an agent of positive change.
He further said the state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, top government functionaries, political leaders at all levels and executives of private sector organisations were also expected at the festival which will hold in the second week of June each year.
According to the statement, highlights of the occasion will include the presentation of the new yam to the Ologidi, Oba Rabiu Oladimeji for his royal blessings and a proclamation from the throne, authorising the people of the community to begin to consume the yam.
The presentation will be made by the Yeyeoba of Ogidi, the world renowned indigo artist, Chief (Mrs.) Nike Okundaye, the proprietress of Nike Gallery, Lekki, Lagos.
Ipinmisho said this year’s programme will also feature an exhibition of some of the community’s near extinct local cuisines, adding that the emphasis would be on guinea corn and its derivatives.
