2023: ‘Obidient’ Movement Exists Only on Social Media, Says Nabena

•It’ll be a political miscalculation for Igbos to jettison APC, group warns

A former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Yekini Nabena, has said the “Obidient movement”, the army of youths supporting the aspiration of  the presidential candidate of  Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, only existed on thesocial media.

Nabena, who made this assertion while speaking with journalists on yesterday in Abuja, insisted that the movement would vanish into thin air after the 2023 elections, when Obi might have lost.

“I can tell you that the so-called ‘Obedient movement’ only exists on social media and after the coming elections, they will naturally turn to disobedient movement, and later obituary,because the movement will naturally vamoose,” Nabena stated.

The party’s chieftain pointed out  that the  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would not pose any serious challenge to the ruling party in the 2023 elections either.

“PDP is nothing to talk about as far as the 2023 general election is concerned. Although we are watching them keenly based on their past records, because we already know their plans and what they are banking on are their Dubai connections and Hushpuppy strategies,” he said.

Nabena stressed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) needed to step up its game and make adequate protection for its server.

“The only hope for the PDP is to hack INEC server, not the votes of Nigerians to win election. You can see practically that even the recent governorship election in Ekiti State, PDP lost its usual second place and I doubt if it can regain that second position anymore in the coming 2023 general election.”

Meanwhile, a group, APC Patriots, South East, said it would be tantamount to grave political miscalculation if Igbos jettison the ruling party ahead of the 2023 elections.

In a statement yesterday signed by the South East Zonal Organising Secretary, Ikenga Ikedife, the group said though it was the wish of the people of the region to have one of their own as standard bearer, the result of the presidential primaries proved otherwise.

“Rather than rue this outcome, it is our considered opinion that, instead, the times call for further impetus and greater sense of belonging to support party stalwarts from the region firmly promote its ideals to Ndigbo.

“At tenuous times like this, it would be tantamount to grave political miscalculation, for our people to jettison the ruling All Progressives Congress; or for the party’s national leaders to attempt to neglect the people of the region and exclude them from the scheme of things. As things stand currently, our party is firmly in charge of two out of the five states of the South East, and with greater inclusivity, it won’t take too much of an effort before the remaining three are taken.”
