The Nasarawa State Government has denied the allegations that it had stored about four trucks of fake fertilizers in its warehouse for farmers as reported in some sections of the media.
Some online media outlets had been awashed with reports that four trucks of fake fertilizers meant for farmers in Nasarawa State were uncovered in the store of the state Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources.
But the state Commissioner for Agriculture, Nuhu Ibrahim Oshafu, denied the allegations when interacting with THISDAY in Lafia, insisting that it was fake news in its entirety.
He said: “It is not true. That is a fake news because when I assumed office here, all the fertilizers we bought before distributing them, we took them to the laboratory and tested their vitality.
“The last truck still in the store has been tested and certified to be okay and it is meant for the state House of Assembly which they are yet to pick. Apart from that, we don’t have anything that is talking about four trucks. What is there is not up to a full truck.”
Oshafu, therefore, called on stakeholders in the agriculture sector of the state to disregard what was trending in the social media because, as according to him, “their aim is to tarnish the image of the state”.
