8 interesting facts you didn’t know about popular movie producer – Joy Grant-Ekong

Joy Grant-Ekong was formerly known as Joy Aiyegbeni.

She was born in Lagos,Nigeria.

Joy started her career in the entertainment industry in 2003 by joining the theatre troop of the Ojo Ladipo Theatre; a lot of the members are veterans in the industry today.

She later joined the M-net award-winning multicam daily soap opera and was soon made the head of the department for director’s assistant from the 2nd season  to the 4th season. 

Joy was the 3rd assistant director on the multi-award-winning film ‘Fifty’ by EbonyLife Films, which bagged one award and 4 nominations in the 2016 African Movie Academy Awards and made millions of dollars in cinema box office revenue. 

Her producing credits include the romantic comedy movie ‘WHEN LOVE  HAPPENS’ in 2014; the soft drama ‘INLINE ‘ in 2017 and the dramatic movie ‘MAMA DRAMA’ in 2020.(All the movies are currently streaming on Netflix), and have had good international reviews. Her recently producing credits includes,’ One Too Many’, ‘Hell Ride’ , coming soon to Netflix.

She owns a production company, JOVE PRODUCTIONS LIMITED, where consults, manage production and provides competent crew in all aspects of film production, all within a desired budget.

She is firmly established as the most sought after African filmmaker, taking the magic of independent filmmakers to the world.
