By Ugo Aliogo
A trader at Alaba International Market, electronic section, Mr Nestor Sunday Orah, who is currently at large has been on the search list of the security agency in Nigeria for harbouring and having canal knowledge of one Mr Uzoma, a 24-year student of Oko Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State.
Orah, who deals in mobile telephone accessories at Alaba market and is not married is said to have been living with the young man for over three years at his residence in Ajegunle, Lagos.
Trouble started for 53-year-old Orah when his neighbours and colleagues at Alaba noticed that Uzoma who was living with him was in a sexual relationship.
According to reports, Orah had accommodated the young Uzoma as a friend before he gained admission to study at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko. It is also a known fact that Orah has been Uzoma’s benefactor, sponsoring him at school. However, unknown to people, both are homosexuals and have been consummating the relationship for a stretched period.
Reports also had it from co-tenants that since becoming a student at the Polytechnic, Uzoma spends all his vacations, holidays, and weekends in Lagos with Mr. Nestor Sunday Orah. However, Orah and Uzoma began to openly and notoriously expose and show their sexual relationship in public, including at their residence and the Alaba market. This is a result of long stays and unhindered cohabiting.
One Mr Uche, a neighbour, said that their open and notorious display of sexual affection towards each other attracted the attention of, and infuriated, their resident neighbours including Mr Orah’s co-traders at Alaba who reported their sexual relationship to the Nigerian police.
According to a source, on one fateful day, February 21, 2023, a detachment of the Nigerian police force invaded Mr Orah’s residence and arrested Uzoma, who was at home alone at the time. And it appeared that Mr. Orah who was at his shop at Alaba overhead of the police invasion, decided to stay at large.
The police informed this reporter that Uzoma has confessed to living together with Mr Orah and has been practising homosexuality with Mr Orah for over three years.
The security source indicated that Mr. Orah who is currently at large, is wanted by the police and that any person with information that can lead to his arrest should immediately contact the police.
Meanwhile, homosexuality and same-sex relationship is strictly prohibited in Nigeria and is punishable with 14 years imprisonment by both Section 214 of the Criminal Code Act (Carnal Knowledge Against the Order of Nature) and Section 5 of the Same-Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act 2013 (Same-Sex Marriage or Civil Union).
That Mr. Orah who is very much aware of the implications of his homosexual act in Nigeria decided to remain at large since the incident was under the scrutiny of Nigerian Police.
