Davido’s ‘Timeless’ Arrives, Set for ‘A Timeless Night’

It’s now official. Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has dropped his fourth studio album. The new body of work arrived in the wee hours of yesterday. Recall that the superstar had announced the new album –‘Timeless’ – will be released on 31st March 2023, following his return on social media. ‘Timeless’ has been the talk of the town in the music industry.
Ever since the announcement, it’s been fever pitch among his fans and music aficionados. A peek into ‘Timeless’ reveals the 17-track album is packed with exciting collaborations that sees the megastar combine his hit-making dexterity with that of the other artistes featured both Nigerian and international, such as Asake, and multi-Grammy winning singer/songwriter, Angelique Kidjo.
The other artistes include Nigerian Fave, and The Cavemen. For international collaborations, there is also British-Nigerian rapper Skepta, South African singer Musa Keys, and Jamaican star Dexta Daps. ‘Timeless’ comes off the back of his 2022 release ‘Stand Strong’ which surprisingly doesn’t make the album. It boasts a number of hits that believably satisfies the expectation of fans.
Davido’s team describes the album as a body of work that goes beyond fashion and trends. “It’s an authentic body of work that remains true to Davido’s core as an artist, using his music to bring joy to his fans across the world. The songs you hear today will be just as relevant tomorrow, that’s why it’s Timeless.”

London, New York City, Lagos join me for ‘A Timeless Night’, a special live event, where we’ll make memories that will last forever!”
Heralding his new body of work on March 24, 2023, David announced three special album shows in Lagos, New York, and London. The series of shows tagged “A Timeless Night with Davido” will kick off in Irving Plaza in New York on the 2nd of April 2023. The second show will take place on the 5th of April, at Koko in London.
While the last leg of the performance will bring the show home at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos on the 23rd of April. The performances will be Davido’s first since he performed at the closing ceremony of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
As part of a generation of Nigerian artistes who have found massive success in the digital era, OBO, as Davido is fondly called, is one of the global faces of African music. The album announcement makes good on Davido’s promise to ‘see his fans in March’ and there’s a feeling that it’ll be well worth the wait.
