Troops Neutralise Five Bandits in Kaduna, Recover Arms

Troops of the 1 Division, Nigerian Army Kaduna, have neutralised five bandits terrorising some communities in Kaduna state.

In a statement at the weekend, Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, 1 Division, Lt. Col. Musa Yahaya, said the bandits were killed during a face-off with troops on Friday .

He said the troops, “through heightened onslaught against bandits and other criminal elements terrorising the North Western part of the country, conducted clearance operations along road Kanti-Tantatu in Kubusu forest and Kaso hills general area in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.”

Yahaya said, “During the operation which lasted several hours, troops dealt a heavy blow on the criminals, neutralising five bandits. 

He also said four AK 47 rifles, six AK 47 magazines and 24 rounds of 7.62mm, three motorcycles, one matchet, two handsets and some charms were recovered from the criminals. 

He said the onslaught by the troops had deprived the criminal elements of freedom of action and further restored peace in the hitherto troubled area, paving the way for economic activities and legitimate businesses to strive.

The statement said the the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division and  Force Commander of Joint Task Force, Operation WHIRL PUNCH, Taoreed Lagbaja, lauded the commitment and the resilience of the troops and urged them never to rest on their oars.

The statement urged law-abiding citizens to continue to support the troops and other security agencies with credible and actionable information that will assist in the fight against the criminals in the area.
