The Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Council of traditional rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, has charged Muslims to continue to show love and kindness to others even after the Ramadan.
Speaking at the final Ramadan Tafsir held at the Maasaba Jumma’at Mosque in Bida on Tuesday, Abubakar admonished the faithful not to limit their act of giving to the fasting period but make it a daily affair.
The monarch also appealed to wealthy individuals and philanthropists to continue to show gratitude to God by helping others and exhibiting total submission to God’s commandments.
“Beyond Ramadan, we must also show the attitude of giving at all times; we must touch the poor and we must touch our people,” Abubakar said.
He observed that many Muslims became saints during the Ramadan but would go back to committing sins after the period, advising that the faithful should continue to abstain from sinful acts at all times.
“Many Muslims quit smoking, drinking alcohol, fornication, adultery, backbiting and other negative tendencies during the Holy month of Ramadan but think sin is permitted after the season,” he said, warning that God hates sins, therefore, Muslims must remain Holy for all their prayers to be answered at all times.
Abubakar also underscored the need for sustainable peace and unity in the country, arguing that there was no alternative to peace, because without peace, meaningful development would continue to elude the country.
