My Musical Career Started Moment My Grandmother Prayed for Me Minutes Before She Passed – Cheesy Vibes
Chidera Victory Ogbuo, known as Cheesy Vibes, is a Nigerian pop singer, songwriter and performer who started his early life in Lagos State, Nigeria.
Born on 6th December 2000 into the family of Mr and Mrs Ogbuo in Lagos State, the artiste started his early life by learning to play a musical instrument in church for several years.
According to Cheesy Vibes,
his journey into music took off like a joke seeing where he has reached today. He expressed, “My music career started like a joke like my family members would say, ‘It’s mysterious’ in the sense that I never knew I was going to end up making music.
“This journey started when my grandmother prayed for me a few minutes before she died. I started writing songs the next day,” he narrated.
Cheesy Vibes, which has a diverse African musical creativity, is mainly focused on Afrobeats, Dancehall, Afropop and South Africa’s Amapiano.
Citing notable superstars like Davido, Phyno and Wizkid as significant influences, his style of music not restricting him to a single sound.
In 2022, following the release of his singles ‘History’, ‘Call Anitaa’ and ‘Our Trouble’ alongside Sweden-based EDM producer WAN, Cheesy’s sophomore six-track extended play (EP) ‘Life & Fame’, released in October, portrays his background, success, as well as an anticipated rise to stardom.
Asked when the music space should expect more projects from him, he promised his projects would soon prove the points.
“I plan on dropping my next Ep before the year runs out and will also love to work with other top artists like Zlatan, Davido, Victony, Peruzzi, Buju and many more,” says Cheesy Vibes.
