Gunmen Demand N500m Ransom for Abducted NPC Commissioner

Gunmen, who abducted a Federal Commissioner with the National Population Commission (NPC) for Bayelsa State, Mrs. Gloria Izonfuo, has demanded a ransom of N500 million for her release.
Mrs. Izonfuo, who recently resumed as the Federal Commissioner for NPC, was reportedly abducted by the gunmen along the East-west Road in Rivers State.
A former Head of Service in Bayelsa State, she was abducted at the Ogbakiri junction of the East-west road around half past Six on Sunday evening while traveling to Port Harcourt from a trip to Brass in Bayelsa State.
She was reportedly whisked away by the gunmen alongside her driver and maid with her abductors demanding five hundred million Naira ransom for their release.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, who confirmed the incident via telephone said the Commissioner of Police had mandated tactical teams to ensure she regains her freedom.
