Being an Independent Woman is a Source of Pride – Berbiedoll
Nigerian brand influencer and the Chief Executive Officer of beauty brand known as Berbie Beauty Line, Christiana Kayode a.k.a. Berbiedoll has explained what being a financially independent woman means to her and to every woman out there who picks up their bills while calling the shots in their lives.
According to her, in a chat with our reporter, “Being a woman who is financially independent and responsible for paying my bills brings me that sense of empowerment, autonomy and freedom. It creates a sense of accomplishment and pride, freedom to make choices and pursue my own goals without relying on others. It enhances my sense of value and capabilities, and also, provides a sense of security for the future. It allows me to build savings, investments, and plans for long-term goals and aspirations.”
Berbiedoll, who has worked with brands like Fashion Nova , Etisalat, Jay Finder, Indogo Lux Spa , MTV Base , Hareem Istanbul, Turkey, AGL Cars, Payport , Highlystylish, CM Luxury Hair, to mention a few, also harps on financial stability in a relationship, adding that love is not enough to make a relationship of any sorts work.
“Both love and financial stability play a significant role in a relationship, and their relative importance depends on individual values, circumstances, and priorities. Money is undeniably important in a relationship as it affects the couple’s quality of life, ability to meet basic needs and pursue common goals. Financial stability can contribute to a sense of security, reduce stress, and provide opportunities for growth and experiences. Ultimately, successful relationships require a combination of love, emotional connection, and practical considerations, including financial stability,” she said.
Berbiedoll also confesses that she loves the appellation “Boss Lady” being ascribed to her because it encompasses various experiences and challenges, saying women in Nigeria face challenges in their professional journeys.
“Gender biases, stereotypes, and societal expectations can impact the perception and acceptance of women in leadership positions. My goal is to use my platform to inspire other women and girls to pursue their dreams, challenge gender norms, and strive for success. Being a role model and empowering others can be an important aspect of living with that perception. I embrace the term “boss lady” to signify empowerment, success, and leadership,” she noted with pride.
