Foundation Charges Youths on Excellence, Empowers 2000

The Faith Iyowuna Ikekhide Foundation (FIIF) has admonished the youth to aim at excellence in all their endeavours to be able to give Nigeria a deserving future. 

 The foundation declared this at the 2nd edition of its Lagos Children Empowerment Conference, where it empowered over 2,000 secondary school students across Alimosho local government area of Lagos state.

President of FIIF, Faith Ikekhide explained that the initiative was driven by a need to make a meaningful life out of the youths and expose them early enough to skills &craft such that would drive their interest in legitimate business. 

The programme took participating students through different exciting sessions of trainings, mentorship and skills acquisition such as hair, soap, shoe and bag making, amongst others. 

Addressing attendees, Int’l President of the Pleasant Gathering, Barr. Joy Ogbonnaya reiterated the importance of youth empowerment to nation’s development. 

Ogbonnaya who described the programme as being timely for this period stated that a nation with ill-bred and disinformed youths risks huge loss.

She besought parents, teachers, government and stakeholders to join hands to nurture children to desired taste to achieve a Nigeria of dream.

In his message, a pastor from the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Juwon Adekoya enlightened the students on prices they have to pay to attain the feat of excellence. 

He said, “To achieve excellence, you must be ready to be above board, determined and avoid evil peers. I want to commend FIIF for engaging the children with initiative like this to distract them from delinquent engagements. This is highly commendable and should be emulated by others.”

One of the participants and student of Isefun Community Senior Secondary School, Adesoye Oyindamola who said she learnt up to five skills, thanked the organisers for  the privilege and promised to make a career of the skills she acquired.
