Group Unveils Solution to Tackle Water Challenge

The Society for Family Health (SFH) has reaffirmed its commitment to clean and safe water at the launch of its water guard tank disinfectant in Lagos, recently.

The group noted that the new solution would make Nigerians to access and consume clean water, devoid of contaminants that may expose them to diseases.

Speaking at the launch of the product, Managing Director of SFH, Dennis Aizobu remarked that Nigerians, both in the rural and urban areas, were at risk of multiple diseases as a result of water crisis in the country.

According to World Health Organisation (WHO), up to 70 million Nigerians lacked access to basic drinking water services.

Aizobu maintained that accessing clean and safe pipe- borne water remained a major challenge that is further dragging the realisation of Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs in the country.

He decried many Nigerians preferences for the popular ‘sachet or pure water ‘which he said were not all clean or pure as claimed.

He urged Nigerians to explore various water sources to get water, but should pay key attention to its treatment, stressing that everyone has a role to play to improve present situation.

Aizobu said: “Water guard tank disinfectant is one of such solutions that will address water challenge in the country, particularly as we look at issues around hygiene. It is a low technology, easy to use and very affordable. We hope that every home would use it and we are confident that it will minimise deaths linked to unhealthy water and reduce incidences of waterborne diseases like diarrhea and typhoid, among others”.

He added that the new solution can be used across the board and in the treatment of borehole water.

Speaking further, SFH brand ambassador, actor Bolanle Ninalowo said that Nigeria’s climate situation and nefarious humans’ action had made water become essential commodity that is now expensive and unaffordable to many.

He affirmed that the latest would also remove bacteria in water.
