The Federal Government and  leadership of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) rose from their reconvened meeting on Sunday evening with an agreement on the urgent need to review the N30,000 minimum wage currently being paid to workers in the country.

Speaking with newsmen after a two-hour closed-door meeting between the Federal Government’s team and that of the Trade Union Congress held at the conference room of the Chief of Staff at the State House, Abuja, a member of the government delegation, Mr Dele Alake, said the two parties agreed on wage increase for workers to cushion the effect of recent withdrawal of fuel subsidy by government.

He stated that the TUC presented a long list of demands to government which will be presented to President Bola Tinubu for consideration before the meeting will reconvene Tuesday.

On his part, TUC President, Festus Osifo, while corroborating what Alake said however submitted that the union wanted government to return to the old fuel price of N185 for further negotiations to continue.
