A non-partisan, non-profit organisation, Ijebu Boys Association, has tasked the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, on key expectations as he began his second term in office.

The call of the association, was contained in a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of the sicio-cultural group,  Adesola Odusote, in which the governor, was congratulated for promising to build on the foundation that he laid during his first term in office.

Describing Abiodun’s victory at the March 18, 2023 gubernatorial election in the state as ‘well-deserving victory’, the association, said the last four years had seen many parts of Ogun State re-engineered under his leadership.

The association said the people’s belief in the leadership of Abiodun made the electorate to  have once again reposed their confidence in his ability to govern them for another four years.

The association described Abiodun’s victory at the keenly contested election as “victory for all of us, and with our prayers, and moral support, you shall deliver on your electoral promises, which have become your bond.”

The association known for its commitment to the development of Ijebuland and the people, reminded Abiodun of their charges to him when he won his first term in office in 2019.

The statement said: “Your Excellency, you will recall, Ijebu Boys Association also known as IJ Boys, congratulated you four years ago when you fought for and won the Ogun State peoples’ mandate. In that congratulatory message, sent to you and also published in some national dailies, we drew your attention to the fact that Ijebu-Ode and many other towns and villages all over Ijebu land, including Remo land, have suffered neglects in the areas of infrastructure development and maintenance ever since the termination of the administration of Chief Olabisi Onabanjo in the Second Republic.

“We would like to seize this opportunity to thank you for addressing some of the issues that we raised particularly the road infrastructure.

“We, as stakeholders in the state, are watching your activities closely. We commend you for re-emphasising, in your inaugural speech, after taking the oath of allegiance for second term in office, alongside your deputy Noimot Salako-Oyedele, your commitment to complete all the ongoing projects in the state, such as roads and agro –cargo/commercial airport located at Ijebu Ilishan, on Iperu road.

“Sir, to whom much is given, much is expected; we implore you to put priority to critical requirements in infrastructure deficit such as in good roads, pipe borne water, health facilities, electricity, education, and most importantly youth empowerment in Ijebu land and Ogun State in general.

“In the past five years, we have been supporting the Ogun State Government’s health programme with our annual 3- Days Ijebu Boys Medical Outreach and we continue to explore other areas that we can augment what the government is doing. This year’s edition of the annual IJ BOYS Free Medical Programme is slated for June 8, 9 & 10 2023 at the Millennium Hall, inside Ijebu Ode Local Government Secretariat, Itooro, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State. Invited special guests of honor and royal fathers of the day are Dr Sunny Kuku of EKO Hospital; Oba (Dr) Adetoye Alatishe, The Gbegande of Ososa Ijebu; Oba Adeposi Bashorun, Oru of Imoru land, Ijebu Ode; Oba (Dr) Abdul-Rasaq  Adesina Adenugba the Ebumawe of Ago-Iwoye Kingdom; and Professor Bankole Okuwa, an eminent scholar of Ijebu-land.”
