Participants at the recent technology event organised by People Capacity Management (PCM), have stressed the need for technology innovation among industry players in order to drive business growth and development.

The conference, which was held during the 5th anniversary of the consulting firm, featured the unveiling of PCM’s Business Academy, which aimed at providing transformative learning experiences to drive individual/business growth and expansion through innovative, inclusive, and sustainable practices, enabled by cutting-edge technology solutions.

In her opening remarks, the Founder/Managing Partner of PCM, Mrs. Biola Ojo, said the conference was organised towards bringing together esteemed tech industry leaders, visionary entrepreneurs, astute investors, and influential policymakers to deliberate on the challenges faced by the African tech industry and chart a path towards developing robust and sustainable business models.

According to her, “Today, we are witnessing unprecedented progress and disruptive technologies reshaping industries, disrupting traditional norms, and redefining the boundaries of what we once thought was possible.

“From artificial intelligence and machine learning to blockchain, quantum computing, and the Internet of Things, we are immersed in a rapidly evolving digital landscape hence the need to build an agile and sustainable business structure that can stand the test of time.”

The conference had two plenary sessions and a keynote speech aimed at taking an in-depth look at some of the critical issues facing the African tech industry, the lack of sustainable business structures that support its growth.

In one of the plenary sessions, the panelists addressed key issues such as the optimal approach for tech companies in talent acquisition and retention, risk management and contingency planning for tech start-ups, the prioritisation of sustainable, long-term solutions over quick wins and rapid growth, and the identification of metrics that reflect a commitment to long-term sustainability.
