Comptroller of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Anambra State Command, Mr. Edirin Okoto, charged officers of his command to double their efforts in performing their duties to justify the confidence reposed in them by the federal government.

Addressing the newly promoted officers who were decorated at his office at the NIS, Awka headquarters, Mr. Okoto, who is barely three months old in Anambra, while congratulating the promoted officers, stressed that their promotion is a recognition of hard work and comes with greater responsibilities.

He added that “as far as the service is concerned, you have to work very hard and your ability and dexterity must be recognised to take you to greater heights.”

The Comptroller who enjoined those that were not promoted to work harder, said they should put in their best and follow the steps of the successful officers, assuring that NIS Anambra Command will keep moving to greater heights.

In his reaction, the highest ranked promoted officer, Mr. Patrick Nnadi Mezuma, who was promoted from the rank of Assistant Comptroller to Deputy Comptroller of Immigration described the day as a very memorable one and thanked God for such honour.

Mezuma stated that promotion is not only being qualified but there are a lot of indices to consider which includes the federal character, years of service among other things.

He noted that promotion comes with additional responsibility adding “my rank is such that you are closer up there such that if the comptroller is not available, this rank would act as a comptroller till they post another comptroller.”

Also speaking, Ifeoma Obiora who is obviously excited about her promotion from Assistant Superintendent of Immigration to Deputy Superintendent of Immigration, assured she would be more dedicated, loyal and passionate about serving her people.

A spouse of one of the promoted officers, Dr. Uche Elochukwu Ezeani, was overjoyed to witness his wife’s decoration to a new rank. His wife, Mrs. Assumpta Onyekachukwu Ezeani was promoted from Chief Superintendent of Immigration to Assistant Comptroller of Immigration. Dr. Ezeani who is also the Director, Research and Statistics at Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, described his wife as a faithful, dutiful, loving, caring and mother of all his children. He said getting promoted in a federal establishment is not easy. He linked his wife’s promotion to her

Ezeani, who was physically excited, promised to support his wife to get more promotions. “She has all my support, every encouragement she needs from me and the entire family, she will get it.”
