Traditional Rulers Must Explain Govt Policies to Subjects, Says Amore III

With his proclamation as the Amore III of the Oluwa kingdom, Oba Oba Mohammadu Moroof Oyekunle Atanda Amodu-Tijani Oluwa, has said traditional rulers must never relent in explaining government policies to their subjects.

This is coming as the Oluwa family over 25 years now has been in tussle over who will become the Oba as the Idejo’s in mainstream Lagos within their enclave which covers over three local government areas.

He stated this in Lagos at his Eje celebration rites for his enthrone in three months, adding that his emergence as king of Oluwa was by divine, providence as he never sought to be one.

Speaking also at the event, the Oba commended the government of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for graciously approving his proclamation.

He further said “You know we must tell them government policies which they must follow and honesty we also advise the government on the feedback from them on what my people want so that whatever the government will do to us it will be done for us.

“Honestly, we must embrace the government of the day because they have done a lot for us and for approving my kingship is what we have been looking for since 2009 that we have been fighting up and down.

“Every Oba must not relent in explaining government policies to the people. Honestly, from day one of my reign and even before my ascension to the throne of my forefathers, the government has done tremendously well and I will continue to be loyal to them.”

On his part, the Chairman of Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government, Fatai Ayoola, called on the new traditional ruler to stimulate growth and developmental projects with his new position as the traditional ruler.

“The essence of the traditional seven days coronation of the Oba for Oluwa was symbolic, unique, and quite historic because the Oluwa of Lagos has metamorphosed into the Oba of Iwa and Apapa kingdom and we expect to see more growth and development.”

On his part, the General Secretary, Oluwa Royal Family, Prince Oluwa Oyebowale Wahab, said it’s an achievement for the Oluwa Royal family and the entire people of the Iwa and Apapa Kingdom

He emphasised that Oluwa Family is a respected family and one of the prominent Idejos (white cap Chief) with its landmark 1921 privy council.

According to him, “the Privy Council in 1921 stated clearly and emphatically that the Apapa land belongs to the Oluwa Family. This is a tone of victory and a dance of joy for the entire people of Iwa and Apapa because the First King of Apapa is an educated elite who is closer to the grassroots and understands what it takes to achieve set goals towards development.”
