Delta Police Presents N33m Cheques to Families of Fallen Officers

The Delta State Police Command has presented cheques worth more than N33 million to families of policemen who died while on active duty in the state police command.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Wale Abass made the presentation Friday at the state police headquarters in Asaba, on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police (I-G), Mr Alkali Baba Usman.

After the presentation, Abbas noted that the cheques presented totalled N 33,275,840.

The commissioner thanked the I-G for the gesture, which he said testified to the fact that the I-G has the welfare of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force at heart at all times.

Abass expressed appreciation for the gesture, saying the cheques would in no small way act as a boost to the families and also a way of letting them know that though their loved ones are no more, the force did not forget their sacrifices.”

One of the beneficiaries, who spoke on behalf of the others, thanked the inspector-general of police for the gesture of kindness shown to them, assuring that they would endeavour to spend the money judiciously.
