In fulfilment of the promise made to the Daben Kasa Community in the Ganjuwa LGA, Bauchi has, within three weeks, constructed a block of classrooms and offices for the village.

This is in addition to over 15 similar completed and ongoing projects across the local government area under the Education Development Initiative of the Governor Bala Mohammed-led administration.

At the handing over of the project to the community, the Village Head of Daben Kasa, Malam Ibrahim Shehu, expressed happiness over the development, which came to the people as a surprise package.

The traditional ruler said that with the construction of the block of classrooms, the people would be encouraged to enrol more pupils into the school.

Ibrahim Shehu, who described the gesture as apt in coming, promised to educate the community on the need to take ownership of the project and collective measures against vandalism.

The school’s headmaster, Musa Muhammad Mante, said that before the project, pupils studied under the tree and called on the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) to provide them with more teachers and instructional materials.

The project supervisor, Faruq M.D Umar, explained that the work included offices and furniture for staff and pupils.

While commending the contracting firm ‘Sams Engineering Limited’ for the construction of a borehole as part of its corporate social responsibility, the project supervisor promised to ensure strict adherence to contract specifications in all the projects being executed.

Community members commended the governor for fulfilling his promise to them within a short period begging for more government intervention in order to improve their status.
