An appeal has gone to Governor Alhaji AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, to give full autonomy to the School for the Blind Children in Kwara.
The Old Students Association of the State’s School for Special Needs, Blind Unit made the appeal in a Save-Our-Soul letter addressed to Governor AbdulRazaq, over the weekend.
They also demanded that the school for the blind should be placed under the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, where it is supposed to be natural.
In the letter which the Association’s Chairman signed, Mr Olushola Balogun and Secretary, Mr Abdulganiyu Abdulazeez Abiodun, respectively opined that “the appeal became imperative to allow the state to join other states that have the schools for the deaf and the blind separately in line with the modern trend of special education. Such states include; Oyo, Ogun, Lagos, Ondo, Osun, Ekiti, Kaduna, Plateau, Kogi, and Kebbi, to mention but a few.”
