A professor of Law at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo, Afeisimi Dominic Badaiki, has stressed the need for monotechnics in the country to seek ways of partnering industries and other polytechnics within and outside Nigeria so that their students can be equipped with intellectual capacity and skills to succeed in a globalised world.

Badaiki made this known recently at the maiden matriculation ceremony of Oak Business School, Lagos, where a total of 80 students, made up of ND I and ND II, matriculated for the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 academic sessions.

He stated that they should promote internalisation by spreading their tentacles all over the world rather than underrating themselves.

Badaiki who was a guest speaker at the programme spoke on the topic, ‘ Sowing to Reap from the Benefits of Higher Education’.

He emphasised the importance of higher education, saying that it is research-oriented and monotechnics must look for innovative and creative ways.

The don expressed concern that many graduates are unemployable, but passing through a monotechnic places students at a vantage position to be employers of labour after graduation.

He advised the students not to allow society’s problems to overwhelm them, adding that they should not engage in vices.

In his remarks, the Rector, Lance Musa Elakama, stated that the school places a high premium on providing practical education for self-reliance and creating entrepreneurs.

He added that it focuses primarily on five courses; Computer Science, Accountancy, Business Administration, Marketing, and Banking and Finance; as well as other fundamental attributes that will make the students fully prepared to face the real world.

The rector advised the matriculating students to study hard, engage in reading and research that will make them innovative, and spend less time on their phones and social media platforms.
