Police Arrest 18 Suspects in Nasarawa

The Nasarawa State Police Command yesterday paraded 18 criminal suspects who were arrested at different locations in the state recently.
Briefing journalists in Lafia to showcase the successes and achievements recorded by the Command, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ramhan Nansel, said four out of the 18 suspects arrested were kidnap suspects.
The Command’s PPRO stated further that two of the arrested suspects were armed robbers, while seven others were arrested for different offences.
He added that one Kuje prison escapee was also arrested by the state Police Command in the course of the operation, even as he said four firearms and ammunition were also recovered.
According to him, “On June 8, at about 1430hrs, a complaint of burglary and theft was lodged at Masaka Police Divisional headquarters.
“Upon receipt of the report, police detectives attached to the division launched diligent investigation into the case, and consequently, one Haruna Sunday was arrested in connection to the case.”
Nansel concluded that upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to have escaped from Kuje prison when it was attacked in 2022, adding that the escapee would be handed over to the Nigeria Correctional Service for further action.
