House Sets Up Transition C’ttees, Adjourns Plenary Till July 4

The House of Representatives has adjourned plenary until July 4 to be able to assign permanent sitting positions and offices to the lawmakers.

This followed a motion for adjournment by former Deputy Speaker, Hon. Idris Wase.

 Earlier, the Speaker, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, announced the composition of transition Committees to help oversee the affairs of the House pending their return on July 4 and when the standing Committees would be constituted. 

Abbas said he and his Deputy Speaker Hon. Benjamin Kalu would chair the selection committee, with a lawmaker each from the 36 states and the FCT as members.

Internal security committee of the National Assembly would be chaired by Hon. Danjuma Hassan, while Media and Public Affairs committee will be chaired by Hon. Abba Buka-Ibrahim with Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere as Deputy Chairman.
