Don’t Neglect Patriotic Members, APC Group Tells Tinubu
Kemi Olaitan in Ibadan
An All Progressives Congress (APC) group Movement for Good Governance has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, not to neglect members of the party who worked consistently for his election and the party in the last elections.
In a statement by its Coordinator, Comrade Segun Adewole and Secretary, Comrade Ronke Babalola yesterday, the movement appealed to the president to only reward leaders and members who were patriotic to the party.
The statement enjoined the president to be wary of two-faced politicians who worked against the interest of the party during the polls, but now lobbying to be appointed into positions.
The statement said now “is the time to repay those who worked for the party. There is no doubt that Tinubu has started on a good footing with laudable policies to serve the interest of Nigerians.
It noted that the template of rewarding loyal party members should be applied in filling all the political appointments.
While citing the case of Oyo State, the movement said those who are claiming to be APC members today worked against the party in the last elections, maintaining that most of them do not deserve any appointment at the detriment of loyal party members.
The movement said out of the gubernatorial aspirants, only Akeem Agbaje and Oyedele Alao that did not jump ship out of the party.
It stated that apart from leaving the party, some openly campaigned for the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party Governor Seyi Makinde while one who left even described the APC as cancerous during a radio program in Ibadan
It stated further that though Agbaje did not leave the party, he adopted what the group described as ‘siddon look’, which was understandable given the process that led to the emergence of the gubernatorial candidate of the party, Senator Teslim Folarin.
It disclosed that on the part of Alao, he was the only gubernatorial aspirant who stood solidly with the party and gave all not only to the campaign of President Tinubu, but also all the candidates of the party.
The movement stated that his contributions could be wished away in the success recorded by the party during the last elections.
The group then called on the leaders of the party that include Chief Bisi Akande; Chief Olusegun Osoba and National Assembly members led by the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, to prevail on President Tinubu, not to be swayed by the sugar-coated tongues of politicians who do not mean well for the party.
