Institute of Estate Surveyors Seeks Asset Valuation for Political Office-holders to Combat Corruption

President of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) , Mr Johnbull Amayaevbo has called for asset valuation of political office holders in the country so as to serve as an effective tool to combat corruption, both globally and within Nigeria.
Amayaevbo made the call in Ilorin, Kwara state capital during the 53rd Annual Conference of the Institution.
The theme of the conference titled, “Asset Valuation as a Global Anti-Corruption Tool: The Nigeria Experience”.
A statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the Institute, Mr. Toyin Aluko, said, “The president decried the pervasive nature of corruption and its detrimental effects on national development.
“The development has prompted the Institution to select series of speakers and personalities in the country so as to equip policy makers and relevant agencies with the necessary knowledge and strategies to tackle corruption and enhance transparency in the valuation of assets”.
Amayaevbo, who expressed concern over the challenges faced in the housing sector, called for urgent attention of the stakeholders to address them effectively.
He also called for urgent review of Land Use Act or its removal from the Constitution.
He applauded President Bola Tinubu for his commendable decision to remove subsidies, emphasizing the long-term benefits it would bring to the nation.
He appealed to the president to provide palliative measures to alleviate the hardships faced by Nigerians occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy.
The institute president also advocated for greater government support and encouragement for housing and infrastructure development.
He urged the government to adopt social housing initiatives to provide affordable homes to citizens.
Amayaevbo, who sympathised with the state government on the recent fatal boat mishap in the state, stressed the need for comprehensive safety measures to prevent future occurrences and ensure the safety of citizens.
