Oye: Transformational Leadership Key to Nigeria’s Greatness
Onyebuchi Ezigbo in Abuja
The Lead Pastor of The Transforming Church (TTC) Rev. Sam Oye, has urged newly inaugurated leadership at the national and local levels in the country to imbibe the virtue of transformational leadership to ensure more progress in the country.
Speaking in an interview with journalists, Oye, said the only way leaders would be able to transform Nigeria was if they are visionary and are able to project what a better Nigeria looks like in their mind.
“I want to say to you that this will not happen by accident, they must be groomed. So we as a church has stop attacking leaders. What we do now is that we have started raising the kind of leaders that our country deserves.
“So I feel that the current set of leaders can transform Nigeria if they choose to become visionary leaders, meaning the can they see a better Nigeria.
“They can’t think of a better Nigeria that they can’t see, they can’t build a better Nigeria that they can’t see. If all that our leaders can see is the National Assembly and the halls and the activities that perhaps empowers their pockets, we will not build a great Nigeria.”
He added: “We need new set leaders, people who will transcend sentiments and break barriers of ethnicity and religious bigotry, people who will look beyond partisan politics, that use parties to win election but must become bipartisan or multi-partisan to lead the nation.
“We need transformational leadership at the very top, not transactional leadership, which is all about give and take, bargaining, and negotiation.”
Oye also called on religious leaders to refrain from using their platforms to advance the cause of political parties. Instead, they should focus on changing attitudes and creating platforms that foster positive change in society, he added.
Oye also spoke about the plan to celebrate the 1000-day Online Prayer initiative tagged: Prayer Prophetic Hour (PPH), being championed by his church which is a fast engaging the youths and other adults across the world in seeking God’s direction in their lives.
According to Oye, through the PPH, the church has been able to reach out to many frustrated youths and individuals who were on the brink of losing faith in themselves and helped them recover from their situations.
