A Journey of Innovation and Impact in African and Global Tech Landscape

In an inspiring journey marked by relentless curiosity, innovation, and a commitment to transforming industries, Uyime Jackson’s path from a fascinated child exploring electronics to a Senior Software Engineer and co-founder of multiple tech startups stands as a testament to the power of technology in reshaping lives and industries.

For Jackson, the journey into technology began long before he wrote his first line of code. As a child, he was captivated by the mechanics of technology, sparking a curiosity that would define his life and career. This early passion for understanding electronics and software eventually led him to earn a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems and Technology at the United States International University-Africa, a decision that laid the foundation for his illustrious career.

In 2007, Jackson briefly stepped away from his career as an oil rig worker to enroll in a Web Design course at Softnet ICT Solutions in Calabar, Nigeria. With support from his then-boss Charles Brodie at Stena Drilling, Jackson pursued his university studies, proving himself an exceptional talent. By his sophomore year, he had already become the Chairperson of the university’s ICT club and co-founded Infonet Computers and Aerials alongside fellow student Francis Odhiambo.

After graduating in 2012, Jackson returned to Nigeria, where he co-founded Tarklish Technologies in 2013 with partners Daniel Wanga and Charles Brodie. Here, he worked with clients like Zinox and the Nigerian Shippers Council, helping them adopt digital solutions that transformed their operations. This experience sharpened his skills in custom software solutions and client relations, setting the stage for future ventures.

Jackson’s global tech journey accelerated in 2018 with Remote Analytics Jobs, where he developed an innovative job-matching platform powered by real-time insights, redefining the job search experience for candidates worldwide. This project’s success earned industry recognition, spotlighting Jackson as a forward-thinking leader in technology.

In 2019, Jackson joined Andela and later WAVEMeditation, contributing to large-scale projects and implementing scalable live-streaming capabilities that positioned the company for growth. His expertise with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform and Ansible helped streamline deployments and enhance system reliability.

At Tinkergarten, Jackson’s development work on the subscription module facilitated thousands of annual and monthly subscriptions, boosting trial-to-paid conversions by 50%. This role demonstrated his commitment to creating seamless user experiences that drive customer engagement and growth.

Today, Jackson serves as a Senior Software Engineer at Highlights for Children, where he specializes in Ruby on Rails, PHP, React, and cloud solutions with AWS. He has consistently driven site performance and led platform upgrades, cementing his reputation as a leader in digital product transformation.

His entrepreneurial drive has led him to co-found several impactful startups, including Campteller, a cross-border educational payment solution, and BPAWA, Africa’s first on-demand clean energy marketplace. Additionally, Jackson is a co-founder of Sytemap by House Africa, a platform aimed at fostering transparent real estate transactions in Africa, and Rely Cards, a startup enabling users to manage multiple bank accounts with a single debit card.

With over a decade of experience, Uyime Jackson remains driven by the same curiosity that sparked his journey. Passionate about mentoring and continuous learning, Jackson is dedicated to a future where technology unlocks the full potential of businesses and individuals across Africa and beyond.
