2Baba Speaks on AI, Philanthropy and Governance

By Vanessa Obioha

Famed Nigerian musician 2Baba has shared his thoughts on the rapid use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in the creative industry. During a breakfast chat with the media to highlight his humanitarian milestones recorded more than a decade ago, the musician said that AI will make creatives lazy.

“It will make so many people lazy and will encourage cheating. It will steal a whole lot of human touch on many things. Everything has its advantages and disadvantages.”

He acknowledged that he has used AI but only in photography.

“I still write my own songs.”

Throwing more light on his influential “Vote Not Fight” campaign, which promotes peaceful elections, the former member of the defunct boy group Plantashun Boiz said that the average Nigerian just wants good governance.

He encouraged Nigerians to work together with the new government in order to move forward.

He also shared insights into his philanthropic work during a one-on-one discourse with Olakunle Soriyan. These include his interventions in the Guinea-worm Eradication Program, NAFDAC’s war against fake or substandard food and drug products; Net Nation anti-malaria campaign, C.E.C.P’s Cancer Awareness and Fundraising efforts; disaster relief work with Red Cross of Nigeria, IDP intervention efforts with UNHCR and multiple One Voice Nigeria projects with Enough is Enough, Nigeria.

For 2Baba, the interventions are always ongoing and give him succour when the targeted objectives are achieved.
