The Executive Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta has said NCC will remain committed to its regulatory policies that will ensure Nigerians get affordable telecommunications services with enhanced internet connectivity.

Danbatta gave the assurrance during the 2023 Academy Technology Dinner organised recently by the Nigerian Academy of Engineering  (NAE), which held in Lagos.

While receiving the platinum award for excellence, Danbatta noted that the award underscored the commitment of NCC in driving its transformation agenda of ensuring equitable universal telecommunication service that is affordable and supports the nation’s digital transformation agenda.

“I am humbled by the recognition from NAE, and I am sure the award means a lot more to the entire members of staff of the NCC whom I am dedicating the award to. The reason for dedicating the award to the entire staff of NCC is because I could not have done the good work we have been doing over these past eight years without their support and cooperation.

We are delighted that the public is watching, listening and observing what we are doing. The platinum award we were given tonight is a testimony to the hard work we have put into growing the telecom sector. I want to assure you and the general public that the NCC will do whatever it can, in tune with its mandate to bring out initiatives that will drive the transformation process that we are pursuing, that will make telecommunication services pervasive and affordable to all citizens of the country,” Danbatta said.
