It brought together experts and stakeholders from various fields, including healthcare providers, policymakers, researchers, development partners, and private sector players on one platform through which they discussed ways to provide an ideal road map for intellectual discourse on opportunities that can be explored on the journey to achieving Universal Health Coverage in Nigeria by 2030
Speaking at the event, the MD/CEO of PSHAN, Dr Tinuola Akinbolagbe reckoned that by fostering collaboration and driving innovative solutions, the conference aimed to build a more robust health system that can deliver quality healthcare to all Nigerians.

She stressed that the 2023 PSHAN Annual Conference could not have happened at a more opportune time, adding, “This is a transition period, with the new administration setting its agenda for the next four years. As we prioritise the competing needs for limited resources, it is critical to recognise that Nigerians’ good health and well-being remain a key driver of economic growth.”

During the conference, stakeholders and subject-matter experts agreed, that innovation and multi-sectoral collaboration, using the whole-of-society and government approach, is critical to achieving Universal Health Coverage.

Akinbolagbe concluded that building sustainable health systems in Nigeria required addressing all the issues in an integrated manner, which will ensure that the health systems in Nigeria can genuinely address the health needs of Nigerians, guarantee improvement in the population’s health outcomes and move the country towards attaining Universal Health Coverage by 2030.
