Niger Dissolves State’s Electoral Body

Niger State Governor, Alhaji Mohammed Umar Bago, has dissolved the State Independent Electoral Commission.

A statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Abubakar Usaman, stated that the dissolution was with effect from May 29,2023.

“Members of the commission are directed to hand over all property of the state government in their possession to the most senior Director in the Commission with immediate effect,” it stated.

Meanwhile, the governor has assured the people that his administration wouldstrengthen cultural heritage in the state.

Bago gave the assurances, when he declared opened the Sallah Durbar of the Nupe Kingdom traditionally called Hauwa nBariki at the Wadata Palace, Bida to end 2023 Eid-El-Kabir celebration.

He  the stressed the need to promote cultural heritage not just within the state but also to project it positively to the outside world maintaining that priority attention will be given to the Tourism and Culture sector

“In our development agenda, we made tourism a very cardinal point, and our being here today is to reasure Nigerlites that our culture will reign supreme in the world. We will encourage Tourism and other cultural activities,” he assured.
