Dignitaries and lovers of Ms. Adeola Adeyeye, an Ondo-based chef, popularly known as “Chef Deo” have continued to throng the cook-a-thon venue, to give her the necessary support and encouragement, with some praising and questioning her decision to dust the previous record holder.

Seemingly, Adeyeye’s aim is to surpass Ms. Hilda Baci’s 93 hours and 11 minutes record. Also, Adeyeye’s cook-a-thon is coming just weeks after another Nigerian Chef, Adeparusi Damilola, popularly known as “Chef Dammy,” undertook a 120-hour cook-a-thon in Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

But Dammy reportedly failed to notify GWR before embarking on the cooking marathon.

However, a visit on Monday to the venue where “Chef DEO” is displaying her cooking prowess and dexterity in Ile-Oluji area of the state showed  that she had informed GWR of her intentions and received the green light before commencing the cook-a-thon.

Also, people within and outside the town have been trooping into the venue as the graduate of Esae University, Cotonou, Benin Republic, who had gone past 60 hours.

One of them, is the current Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Wale Akinterinwa, who came with his wife to give “Chef Deo” moral support. Akinterinwa, who is a native of Ile-Oluji, praised her for putting her hometown, Ile-Oluji and Ondo State on the world stage.

He said: “First and foremost, I must state clearly that I am from this town and a native of this town. I believe that it is very proper for me to identify with anything positive coming out of this community. ‘Chef Deo,’ with what I have discovered about her, I believe she is very promising young woman who is trying to not only put herself on the world stage but also put my town, Ile-Oluji on the world stage.

“So if anybody like that is doing something that would promote herself or himself and the name of the community for good reason, I will gladly want to identify with such person.

“It is also in line with the belief of this government to promote youths and encourage them to give their best and with what she is doing, it further enhances my belief in skill acquisition. She is a graduate and has skills which she can market and I believe that is what she is using here. I wish her well.

“I have been reliably informed that she is following the due process as required by GWR. Right now she is under the supervision of the GWR and she is on life all over the world so people are monitoring her and I strongly believe that she will set a new record with our encouragement and supports,” the commissioner added.

Also, the lawmaker representing Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo/Odigbo in the House of Representatives, Hon. Festus Adefiranye, was present to cheer “Chef Deo.”

According to him, the Ile-Oluji born chef has put her town in the world map, saying, “I am delighted to see her doing what she knows how to do best. We will continue to support her to ensure that she breaks the record.”

Also present at the event was the Lawmaker representing Ile-Oluji State Constituency, Hon. Akinsuroju Akindolani, who described her as a talented youth.

Chef Adeyeye has her eyes on concluding the cook-a-thon on Thursday, July 6, is her main target as history beckons.
