Anchor University Lagos ( AUL), yesterday, pronounced Miss Nkechinyere Kamsiyochukwu Umeh, 16, a student of Deeper Life High School, who had a score of 360 in the 2022/2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME), as its ‘Young Ambassador ‘ with a full scholarship award for her to study any course of her choice in the university.
The management of Deeper Life High School had earlier this week celebrated her for achieving an impressive score above 300 in the recently concluded 2023 UTME.
Briefing journalists to announce the opening of its 2023/2024 admission exercise, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Samuel Oye Bandele, disclosed that it would also give tuition free award scholarships to the first best 10 students in UTME from Deeper Life High School, nation-wide.
He added that the university will also give high percentage rebates on tuition to the first 50 students of the Deeper Life High School with a UTME score of 250 and above, who will be admitted to the university for the 2023/2024 academic session.
He described Miss Umeh as the incontrovertible and authentic winner of the best score in the 2022/2022 JAMB UTME result, saying that he was privileged to attend the JAMB policy meeting held in June in Abuja, where the Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, had addressed stakeholders that some students were parading fake results.
Bandele, however, called on Nigerians not to rush into supporting alleged wrong doers against accredited national bodies saddled with defined responsibilities.
According to him, “we should not turn things like this that affect the foundation of quality input into our nation’s ivory towers to a platform of political muscle flinging and legal experimentation.
“JAMB has the authentic data base and quality digitisation of all their activities.”
The VC appealed to all contending forces on embattled Miss Mmesoma Ejikeme who claimed to have scored 362 in the exam, to bow to truth and recognise excellence where it belongs in the quest of JAMB to ensure quality inputs into the Nigerian higher education system.
He congratulated Miss Umeh for her feat and the National Head of Deeper Life High School and Education Secretary, Mrs. Thelma Malaka and her team for their efforts in impacting knowledge on the students.
“We want to attract our students to this university because we have core values, “the Professor of Educational Evaluation and Computer Education stated.
