Lasena Water MD Urges Nigerians on Water Consumption against Disease
The Managing Director of Lasena Water, a product of the umbrella company OGC Foods and Beverages Ltd, Musa Elakanma, has urged Nigerians to consume more water for healthy and disease-free lives.
His call follows findings that in Nigeria, the prevalence of waterborne diseases such as cholera, typhoid fever, hepatitis A, and diarrhoea-like illnesses is attributed to poor water quality.
Research has also shown that access to clean water significantly reduces the risk of contracting these diseases, resulting in improved public health.
In a statement, Elakanma said, “Water is the bedrock of all human existence.
“We as humans spend the first nine months of our life in water, and 60 per cent of the average human body comprises water.”
While noting the significance of clean water, Elakanma underscored the safety of Lasena Water and the measures in place.
He divulged that they source the water from an enclosed aquifer with a depth of 522 metres.
“This thermal aquifer remains untouched by human activity, making it one of the purest water sources available.
“Lasena Artesian Natural Alkaline Mineral Water is from that enclosed thermal aquifer,” he said.
As a company, the MD underscored their aim to ensure that the water its consumers get is in its most natural state possible.
“Our quality control measures meet and exceed industry standards. We ensure that regulatory bodies approve all our processes.
Elakanma highlighted Lasena Water’s efforts to contribute to water accessibility and sanitation initiatives in underserved communities.
Although he admitted that access to clean water is a challenge that genuinely needs to be fixed, he said Lasena is piping water to its neighbouring communities with hopes to reach more households soon.
