NSSF Partners NOA on Athletes’ Mentoring

The Nigeria School Sport Federation (NSSF) has entered into partnership with the Nigerian Olympians Association (NOA) with the sole aim of mentoring the athletes.

At the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Lagos on Tuesday July 4, the NSSF President Olabisi Joseph said it behoves on the federation to mould the character of the athletes and to achieve this, collaborating with the Olympians becomes necessary.

“For us at NSSF, one of our aims is to produce a total child not just a sports champion but an individual with impeccable character outside the field of play. Our partnership with former and present Olympians are part of the plans we had in stock so that we can involve them in mentoring the young athletes because they were once students’ athletes as well. This partnership is for a long time, and we believe this can help our athletes to work harder and aim high even outside the field of play. We want to ensure that our athletes associate with successful Olympians so that they can learn from them and imbibe the virtues they learnt in their day-to-day activities,” she said.

President of NOA, Olumide Oyedeji commended NSSF for their giant strides under the leadership of the first female president while pledging their support to the federation.

Oyedeji, former captain of the men’s national basketball team said: “We are excited with this partnership, and we can’t wait to start because for us, there is need to share our experience with some of these upcoming athletes so that they can learn from our experience in their quest for glory in sports. We will surely support NSSF and hope that we can also bring some opportunities to the athletes from IOC in near future,” he said.
