The Katsina State Government yesterday disclosed its plan to recruit 2,400 youths to secure communities in eight frontline local government areas of the state.

The state government revealed the plan in a statement the Chief Press Secretary to Governor, Mr. Ibrahim Mohammed issued yesterday.

The recruitment, according to the statement, aims at empowering local communities and strengthening security architecture in frontline local governments of Safana, Dandume, Danmusa, Sabuwa, Faskari, Jibia, Kankara and Batsari.

It read: “Under this program, eligible youths will receive comprehensive training and necessary equipment from experienced security officers, equipping them to safeguard the lives and properties of their fellow community members.

“A total of 300 youths will be engaged from each of the eight local governments to work in tandem with security officers, supplementing their efforts.

“During the launch event, the state Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal Jobe emphasised the governor’s unwavering determination to address security challenges across Katsina State, particularly in the local governments severely affected by insecurity.”

He affirmed the government’s commitment to engaging young individuals who exhibit good character, possess strong ties to their respective communities, and are below 35 years of age.

He urged local government chairmen and other stakeholders to carefully select candidates who possess the willingness and capability to fulfil the objectives of the initiative.

According to him, the success of the programme hinges on the collective effort and commitment of all parties involved.
