Delta Gov Nominates New  Board Members for  Internal Revenue Service

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori  has sent a list of five nominees, including a chairman, to the Delta State House of Assembly for appointment into the Board of the Delta State Internal Revenue Service(DIRS).

A letter from the Governor, which  was read at yesterday’s plenary by the Speaker, Hon Emomotimi Guwor, said that a former member of the State House of Assembly representing Uvwie state constituency, Hon Solomon Ighrakpata, has been nominated as chairman of the board.

Other nominees are: Frank Nwugo, Executive Director (Operations); Kelly Oghenekevwe, Executive Director (Finance and Administration); Collins Iwebunor, Executive Director (ICT and Corporate Development); and, former state lawmaker, Hon (Mrs) Orezi Esievo, Executive Director (Legal Services).

According to the statement,  the nominees are to be screened by the House of Assembly on Tuesday, July 18, 2023.

The State Government had  announced  on Monday that the Governor had  approved the dissolution of board of the strategic internal revenue agency, via a statement by the Secretary to State Government (SSG), Dr Kingsley Emu.

In another development, Governor Oborevwori has appointed eight Special Advisers and a Director-General to be in charge of Special Duties.

A statement  yesterday 2023, by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Kingsley Emu, said that the nominees would be inaugurated at date to be announced later.

The statement said: “It is hereby announced for the information of the general public, particularly Deltans, that the governor of Delta State, His Excellency Hon. Sheriff F O Oborevwori, has approved the appointment of the following persons as Special Advisers”.

They are Chief Edwin Uzor, Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, Hon. Basil Ganagana, Chief Tony Emechi, Mrs. Eunice Okiemute Anirah.

Others are Mrs. Shemite Bello, Mrs. Griftson Omatsuli and Olorogun Jaro Egbo.

“In the same vein, His Excellency, has approved the appointment of Chief Frank Omare as Director-General (Special Duties),” the statement said.
