Kano Government Pays N1.5bn for 57,000 NECO Candidates

The Kano State Government has spent N1.5 billion on the payment of National Examination Council (NECO) for 57,000 students of various secondary schools across the state.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Press Secretary to the State Deputy Governor, Ibrahim Garba.

He said the payment was part of government’s policy to reposition the education sector for optimal performances. He said the Deputy Governor of the State, Aminu Abdulsalam, charged the benefiting students to put in their best for better results in the examination to justify government’s huge investment in their academic pursuit. “Kano State Government has allocated over N1.5 billion to cover examination fees for more than 57,000 students enrolled in Secondary Schools, Technical Schools, and Islamic/Arabic Secondary Schools throughout the state.

“You need to put in your best and remain committed so that you can come up with good results of the examination, that can make the state and your family happy and proud of you,” he said.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Education, Malam Umar Doguwa, announced that a committee had been set up by the state government to assess the state of boarding schools earlier shut down with a view to reopening them. Doguwa, commended the state government for enhancing its schools feeding programme, adding that, more furniture would soon be provided to the schools across the state.
