Kogi Guber: Police Warns Political Stakeholders against Violence

Ahead of the November 2023 governorship election in Kogi State, the Nigeria Police Force Zone B Headquarters in conjunction with Kogi State Command has read a riot act to critical stakeholders in the forthcoming election that admonished them to ensure violence-free governorship polls in the state.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Mr. Babatunde B. Ishola, stated that the Nigeria Police would not entertain any form violence before during and after election in Kogi State.
Ishola disclosed this while speaking at stakeholders’ meeting on election security with the theme: “Strengthening Community Engagement Towards Violence-free November 2023 Governorship Election in Kogi State,” at the Police Command Headquarters in Lokoja on Wednesday.
He explained that the meeting became an imperative in view of the ongoing electoral processes ahead of the governorship election in Kogi and two other states.
He stressed that it would interest people to know that the contributions either positive or negative would have a long way to go in achieving credible governorship election in Kogi State.
The AIG zone has warned that there should be no political thuggery, violence, destruction of bill-boards and posters of political parties.
“No to snatching of ballot boxes, during the elections. Campaign should be issue based. Everyone should follow the rule of law and respect for human rights.
“Everyone should vote according to their choice. One man, one vote. Everyone’s vote must count.
“No threat or intimidation of anyone before, during and after the elections,” he warned.
