The Presidential Candidates of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP), Mr. Atiku Abubakar and Mr. Peter Obi, respectively have been advised to withdraw their petitions at the Presidential Election Tribunal to pave a smooth way for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to take Nigerians to the Promise Land.
The Zonal Coordinator of the Association for Political Stability in North-east (APSAN), Mr. Haruna Garba, gave the advice in Bauchi during the weekend at the association’s meeting to review the successes and challenges of the just concluded 2023 polls with a view to make possible amends as well as chart a way forward.
According to Garba, the legal action by the two presidential candidates of the opposition political parties is an old political machination that is being tailored by the opposition to truncate the course of democratic governance.
He also called on the petitioners at the presidential election tribunal to jettison their complaints for national interest, political stability, growth, development and prosperity of the country, which Tinubu-led government have started on a clean slate.
one of the cardinal objectives of the APSAN is to ensure the emergence of youths, women and the physically challenged in governance with the aim of salvaging them from economic doldrums and unemployment that made them vulnerable to social vices and hinders their emergence as leaders of tomorrow.
The coordinator commended members of the association for the supportive roles they have played that culminated to the Tinubu/Shettima success at the elections in the North-east zone, particularly in Borno, Yobe and Gombe States even as he urged the APC to face the on-going battle at the elections tribunal in Bauchi and Adamawa, saying that victory awaits the party.
The association also hailed the Northern APC governors who fought hard to ensure that the former governor of Lagos State emerged the presidential flag-bearer of the party and his subsequent victory at the polls, saying that their collective efforts and commitments should not be allowed to go in vain.
He urged the Tinubu/Shettima presidency to ensure the realisation of gas and oil discovered in Barambu axis of Bauchi/Gombe as well as the planned refinery at Bauchi/Jos axis.
The coordinator then revealed that arrangements have been concluded for the zonal meeting of the association, which is aimed at evolving a strategic political framework that would facilitate the successful tenure of the Tinubu/Shettima led administration.
