Enyimba’s management changed hands for the first time in 23 years with Felix Anyasi-Awgu giving way for former Nigerian and Arsenal legend, Nwankwo Kanu to step into saddle.

Although all the staff of Enyimba were asked to reapply for their posts, Kanu was reported to have confirmed that Head Coach of the team, Finidi George was not affected by the directive.

Sporting Director of Enyimba, Ifeanyi Ekweme, signed the statement asking all the backroom staff to reapply .

The statement which was titled: “Application for Re-absorption into Enyimba Management” sent shocking waves through the football world as a 48-hour ultimatum was issued to ensure compliance.

Finidi’s contract with the club ended this summer and there has been a offer on the table for him before the sack of the former Chairman of the club.
