Kwara State Polytechnic Worldwide Alumni Association yesterday vowed to initiate a process to recover the institution’s encroached land, warning those illegally occupying the polytechnic property to vacate them without further delay.

The body warned that the encroachment on the school property has grave implications for the future of the state polytechnic as a result of which it said the body would explore all legal means to reclaim the land.

Speaking at a press conference in Ilorin, the Protem President, Kwara State Polytechnic Worldwide Alumni Association, Mr. Abu Salami, stated the encroachment of the institution’s land has also continued to affect the full implementation of the masterpiece of the developmental plans for the polytechnic.

He said: “As many of you may be aware, Kwara State Polytechnic, our esteemed institution of learning and innovation, has been confronted with an alarming issue of unauthorised occupation and construction on its lands.

“Private and commercial buildings have encroached upon the polytechnic property, posing significant challenges and threats to the institution’s growth and development.

“This encroachment has grave implications for the future of the state polytechnic. It has not only violated the rightful ownership and boundaries of the institution but also hinders its ability to provide quality education to the people and community.

“The encroachments also impede the expansion plans of the polytechnic and undermine its efforts to create a conducive learning environment for students.

“To those who have encroached upon Kwara State Polytechnic lands, we issue a stern warning. Your actions are not only illegal but also detrimental to the progress and future of our beloved institution.

“We demand that you immediately vacate the unlawfully occupied areas and cease any further encroachment.”

While urging the state government to intervene in the perennial issue, Salami said the body “will support all efforts by the appropriate authorities to reclaim the institution’s lands.

“We will work closely with the state government, land management authorities, and law enforcement agencies to ensure the full enforcement of the law and the protection of the polytechnic’s property.”
