Politicians to Urged to  always Show  Maturity

As the country awaits the judgments of the various elections’ petition tribunals, a frontline politician and immediate-past Special Adviser on Political Matters in Niger State, Alhaji Nma Kolo, has admonished politicians, especially those who lost in the last elections, to accept defeats in good faith instead of overheating the polity.

Kolo also advised those who were victorious to be “magnanimous in victory,” by extending hands of friendships to those they contested against.

Addressing journalists in Minna yesterday, Kolo said adopting such postures would stabilise the society and deepen the country’s democracy.

Kolo said: “Politics is a game of numbers- you win some and lose some. So because you lost today does not mean you cannot win tomorrow.”

He charged politicians to emulate the Niger State example where the loser of the governorship poll, Alhaji Isah Liman Kantigi, accepted his defeat and embraced the winner, Alhaji Mohammed Umaru Bago, “an action that has made the new administration in the state to kick off without losing focus.”

According to Kolo, “Other states in the country should put into practice the spirit of love, oneness, and collective responsibility usually demonstrated by politicians in Niger State, who, without regard to political differences, always consider the state first above their personal interest.

“This is the modern politics we are talking about that is devoid of rancour and acrimony for the good of all.”

The former Special Adviser, however, appealed to the people of the state to continue to support the administration of Governor Mohammed Bago and of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in order to attain a prosperous and stable country.
