Odunlade Treats Colleagues to Rich Yoruba Culture

Several A-list stars in the movie industry made it all glam to the grand premiere of Odunlade Adekola’s epic movie, ‘Orisa’ last Sunday, July 16, at the IMAX Cinemas in Lagos. The event, which turned out to be quite explosive, witnessed massive support from industry personalities mostly from the Yoruba sector, including Wumi Toriola, Nkechi Blessing.
Others such as Shaffy Bello, Fathia Williams, Mercy Aigbe, Lateef Adedimeji, Mo Bimpe, Oga Bello, Jide Kosoko, and many others were among the A-list personalities that graced the occasion. It was quite an impressive turnout. Odunlade treated his colleagues to a world of rich Yoruba culture. Clips from the private screening and pre-cinema viewing have been heartwarming.
With many of the ace actor’s colleagues supported him. In the aftermath of the successful premiere, the movie star who produced and directed took to his Instagram page to express his gratitude to his colleagues who lent support. He attributed the success of the event to their presence and their creative contributions to the film.
‘Orisa’ is set in an ancient Yoruba city. The titular ‘Orisa’, played by Muyiwa Ademola, is a powerful warrior who allies himself with a gang of highly skilled warriors. Their activities pose a problem for the king and other criminal gangs in the city. A mission goes wrong and a dark secret comes to light threatening to spell doom for ‘Orisa’ and his clique of warriors”.
Various actors including, Jide Kosoko, Dele Odule, Yinka Quadri, Ayo Mogaji, Iya Rainbow, Segun Ogungbe, Femi Adebayo, Eniola Ajao, Ireti Osayemi, featured in ‘Orisa’. The film collaboration between Odunlade Adekola and FilmOne Studios opened in cinemas on July 21, 2023. The premiere followed weeks after Odunlade felicitated with graduands at the 5th convocation of his film.
The Odunlade Adekola Film School graduation ceremony which took place in Abeokuta, Ogun state saw 50 newly trained movie industry entrants in different spheres of filmmaking celebrate their successful completion. Students of the OAFP schools are usually part of the cast of the running YouTube comedy series ‘Saamu Alajo’, produced by Odunlade Adekola.
